WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR CLASSES?

Here is a brief overview of what you can expect during your child’s time spent in our program:

Safety is our top priority. Our coaches are trained in proper spotting techniques and all of our equipment is regularly inspected to ensure it is in good condition. We also have a strict no-tolerance policy for roughhousing or horseplay in the gym.

Your child will be placed in a class with other students of similar age and skill level. This helps ensure that they are challenged and supported at the appropriate level.

During each class, your child will have the opportunity to work on a variety of gymnastics skills, including tumbling, beam, bars, and vault. These skills will be introduced gradually, starting with the basics and building up to more advanced techniques.

It is important for your child to arrive on time and dressed in appropriate clothing for gymnastics. This includes a leotard or gym clothes that allow for a full range of movement, as well as hair pulled back securely.

Consistency is key to your child's progress in gymnastics. We encourage regular attendance and encourage you to let us know in advance if your child will be absent.
As your child progresses, they may have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions or competitions. These are optional and we will provide more information if your child is interested in participating.

CLASS STRUCTURE

All classes begin with a 10-15 minute warm-up and stretch. For beginner to intermediate classes, we divide the gymnasts into smaller groups and assign each group a coach who works closely with them as they rotate through various pieces of equipment. Our goal is to create a fun and supportive environment where children can grow and thrive

Circuits
Occasionally and more often with higher-level gymnasts, we will set up a big circuit. This training structure involves setting out a number of exercises to work on and switching around each one in small groups or even individually.

Conditioning
Gymnastics conditioning is a form of strength training that prepares your body for higher-level physical feats. Most of the time we do our conditioning disguised as a game, this encourages the gymnasts, especially younger ones to work harder.

Shape game
For all our beginner classes there will always be time spent on their gymnastics shapes, we encourage them to remember each shape by name by playing what we call the ‘Shape game’. This involves us calling out shapes to a group and seeing who can do them the fastest.

Star of the week

At the end of each session, we give out a star of the week certificate to 1 person from each group. We believe this really encourages and motivates our gymnasts by showing appreciation for hard work and good behaviour.

We are a team of passionate coaches with strong roots in gymnastics, encouraging children to be active, stronger, disciplined and confident, physically and mentally. We strongly believe children of all ages and abilities can benefit from gymnastics. With a combined coaching experience of over 60 years we take our jobs very seriously, whether that’s giving beginners a strong foundation or coaching elite gymnasts for competitions.
